Dear You and You,
You know how it’s 'The Future'? It is! It’s the future. No jetpacks. No flying cars. It’s a subtler way more interesting future than that.
The crazy made-up inventions that would get us from place to place in the sky or via beaming do not hold a candle to the way the world has been shrunk due to the internet, the social networks, the twitters and flickrs.
You know what I mean, right? We can communicate with anyone anywhere, instantly. And we do. And that’s great.
But I’m a visual artist. I want to take the ideas that are daily blowing my mind and interpret them my way. With photography, the best medium of all time. Sorry, watercolor. It’s just true.
So, what I propose is to use the social media to connect people. Strangers with strangers. Fans with the subjects of their fandom. Astronauts with postmen. Postmen with strangers. And explore the relationships in IRLspace (that’s “In Real Life-space” for those uninitiated in slang I just made up).
The end result will be a series of photographs each one designed around a unique concept based on the subject of the photograph. Is that vague? Intentionally so. I’m not limiting this. This is an amorphous thing, the intentions behind it are the ties that bind it.
It’s simple, man. I’m making fun art as an excuse to bring people together. To ensmall the world some, the way the internet does. But with pretty pictures...
Sincerely,
